Bedroom _ The Room of Rebirth

Behind the thick curtain lies a dark bedroom displaying the first collection of the runner. Intriguingly, the works in this room were created by a scholar who was achievement-oriented and cynical towards his surroundings. However, during the height of the war, he lost his family and his values were shaken to the core. His studies could do nothing to protect precious lives or fill the emptiness of his loss. Since then, he has torn apart his research with remorse for the past, which offered no affirmation or encouragement to others, and rearranged them into works as a ritual of rebirth.

・ ‘Zombie’ from titles: Is a zombie, who is half alive, a living being? If someone cannot fulfill love, freedom, or opportunities for thought, which are generally fulfilled needs, can they be considered human? The scholar believes that a zombie is also a living being in the process of finding genuine life through their lack. Like the scholar himself experienced, when the core values are found, people encounter a turning point almost like a rebirth. He metaphorically created artworks that incorporate the process of adding vitality after a zombie finds the meaning and purpose of life from the past, which was only their shell.

・ The shape of the shield: The shields look like they could be shattered with a single punch. These works are the scholar’s past self-portraits, breaking and reassembling past research materials.

・ Bedroom: Death is often compared to sleep. Perhaps the runner displayed these works in the bedroom to support someone’s “daily rebirth towards values.”
