The Messenger's House

To the precarious generation on the artificial gravity at the crossroads of hope and despair

A massive spacecraft is heading towards a new world - the second Earth. The ship’s artificial gravity creates an environment akin to that of our home planet, allowing the inhabitants to maintain an earthly way of living. Yet, despite their aspirations and hopes for a better future, the unfathomable scale of space, measured in the speed of light, is overwhelmingly daunting. As the journey continues, time has swallowed up the generation that knew Earth and has left behind a new generation born into the void of space. An era of uncertainty undoubtedly looms.

The older generation had accepted the inevitability of Earthling’s mortality even before their departure and sought to take responsibility for the voyage. Consequently, they tried to impart a message to future generations by loading a mansion of a collector with a keen interest in human attributes such as solidarity, humility, rest, and love.

This enigmatic house, situated in the middle of the spaceship, was owned by a runner (messenger) during the war on Earth. Unlike the battalions that charged together into enemy territory, he had to conceal himself and find shortcuts, developing a solitary and observant survival instinct. When the war ended, he came to the awareness that the war was not merely about winning, but about the continuation of mundane daily life with loved ones. Thus, he tried to protect the realization and expressed it by collecting works of art.
